Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh says Israel is trying to block ceasefire efforts as US Secretary of State Antony Blinken embarks on a trip to the Middle East.

Earlier, the Palestinian group accused Israel of committing a “complex war crime” with its attack on the Nuseirat refugee camp. At least 274 Palestinians, including at least 64 children, were killed in Saturday’s raid.

Hospitals crippled by months of Israeli attacks and blockade appeal for help as they struggle to treat patients. World Food Programme “pauses” delivery of Gaza aid through US-built pier due to safety concerns.

Israeli war cabinet minister Benny Gantz quit the unity government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of failure in the war on Gaza and calling for early elections.

At least 37,124 people have been killed and 84,712 injured in Israel’s war on Gaza since October 7. The death toll in Israel from Hamas’s attacks stands at 1,139, with dozens of people still held captive in Gaza.

US deputy ambassador to UN insists Israel accepted US ceasefire proposal

US Deputy Ambassador to the United Nations Robert Wood has said that Israel accepted the US proposal for a three-phase deal between Hamas and Israel.

This came hours before the UN Security Council is set to vote on a draft resolution put forward by the United States calling for Hamas to accept the deal.

“This proposal is the best opportunity we have right now, to bring at least a temporary halt to this fighting to be able to get more assistance in, get hostages released, and all the other things are included in the proposal. So we want to work hard to get that done,” said Wood, speaking at the UN headquarters in New York City.
